Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate driver to provide safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for our clients requiring Non-Emergency Medical Transportation as well as group passenger transportation. The driver will execute timely transportation for patients to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare facilities, in addition to events, outings, community activities, and airport transportation, and more. The ideal candidate will prioritize customer service, demonstrate excellent driving skills, and always ensure the comfort and safety of passengers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport clients to and from medical appointments, dialysis centers, rehabilitation facilities, pharmacies, and other healthcare-related locations.
- Assist passengers in and out of the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort, including those with mobility challenges.
- Operate and maintain company vehicles, including a wheelchair-accessible van, safely and professionally.
- Follow pre-planned routes and schedules while accommodating last-minute changes or delays.
- Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, company policies, and state/local transportation regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service, treating all passengers with respect, patience, and professionalism.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, healthcare providers, and family members regarding trip details and any necessary updates.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate records, including trip logs, mileage, and any incident reports.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and always respect patient confidentiality.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be at least 25 years old.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of driving experience (professional driving experience a plus).
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before driving).
- Experience working with elderly, disabled, or medically fragile individuals is a plus.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift to 60 lbs and assist passengers with mobility devices, such as wheelchairs and walkers.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation and familiarity with local roads and routes.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Flexible work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Work is primarily conducted in a vehicle with occasional exposure to various weather conditions.
