Position Summary

The RV Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Technician is responsible for performing detailed inspections, testing, and final quality checks on new and pre-owned recreational vehicles prior to customer delivery. This role ensures all units meet company quality standards, manufacturer specifications, and safety requirements, providing customers with a smooth and problem-free delivery experience.


Requirements:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive pre-delivery inspections on travel trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes, and other RV units.
  • Test and verify proper operation of all major systems including:

Electrical (12V and 120V systems)

Plumbing and water systems

LP gas systems

HVAC systems

Appliances (refrigerator, stove, microwave, water heater, etc.)

Slide-outs, awnings, leveling systems, and generators

  • Identify and document defects, cosmetic issues, or incomplete manufacturer items.
  • Complete minor repairs and adjustments as needed prior to delivery.
  • Coordinate with service, parts, and warranty departments to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Ensure units are clean, fully functional, and presentation-ready for customer pickup.
  • Maintain detailed inspection reports and required documentation.
  • Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Assist with customer walk-through preparation when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in RV service, automotive, marine, or related mechanical/technical field preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, propane, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, squat, and stoop for extended periods of time to access vehicle components.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, such as under RVs or inside tight compartments.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours or more) and walk throughout the workday.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms or rooftops.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary to handle hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and fine motor skills while handling small parts or tools.
  • Good vision and hearing are required for diagnosing problems, reading diagnostic tools, and ensuring quality control.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (sun, rain, wind, etc.).
  • Willingness to work in environments that may be noisy, dusty, or dirty, with appropriate protective equipment.
