Job description

Divergent is building the new industrial age. Every day, our teams design, manufacture, and assemble advanced systems for some of the world's most demanding industries. Our integrated engineering and manufacturing platform transforms complex designs into production-ready solutions, helping customers move faster, build smarter, and deliver critical systems when they matter most. Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs and supports leading U.S. aerospace and defense companies.

Join us and help push the boundaries of what can be built.

Purpose

The Robotic Technician is a core production role responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting multiple automated manufacturing cells, including robotic assembly, anodize automation, scan box inspection, and future robotic systems. This technician ensures stable day-to-day operations, maintains equipment health, supports material flow, and helps drive production efficiency, quality, and safety on the shop floor.

This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented technician who excels at troubleshooting automation and mechanical issues in a fast-paced production environment.

The Role

As a Robotic Technician, you will support daily production across several automated work centers. You will operate equipment, maintain part flow, assist with routine maintenance, and respond to issues in real time to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality components for automotive, aerospace, and defense applications. You will collaborate with engineering, production leads, and other technicians to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Multi-Cell Production Operations

  • Operate, monitor, and support daily production across multiple automated cells—robotic assembly, anodize automation, scan box, and future robotic systems.
  • Maintain proper flow of parts through automated cells to avoid delays or bottlenecks.
  • Perform part preparation activities including masking, cleaning, light mechanical assembly, and adhesive-ready prep.
  • Complete digital assemblies and validation steps using required software, tools, or inspection systems.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and general shop equipment
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-staged work areas; support other cells as needed.
  • Assist with material movement between work centers, including forklift operation.
  • Support shipping/receiving needs and basic shop logistics as required.
  • Help stage, organize, and track materials across multiple automated work cells

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform routine operational maintenance on robotic and automated equipment.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve basic robotic, mechanical, and electrical issues to reduce downtime.

Documentation, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist with updating work instructions, process documentation, and checklists.
  • Report nonconformances and support corrective action processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on workflow, equipment reliability, and production efficiency.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Follow all safety protocols around robotic equipment and moving machinery.
  • Help keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or concerns immediately.
Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience operating industrial robots (Kuka, ABB, FANUC, Yaskawa) or automated equipment in a production setting.
  • Strong understanding of robotic operation and basic automation troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly skills with the ability to diagnose equipment issues.
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely climb ladders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating Kuka 6-axis robots or similar robotic manipulators.
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and HMI interfaces.
  • Experience with automated adhesive dispensing equipment.
  • Background in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience in multi-cell or high-mix automated production environments.
Work Environment
  • Work near moving mechanical and robotic equipment.
  • Standing, bending, and hands-on tasks for most of the shift.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work based on production needs.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and adherence to safety.
