RN First Assist

Bakersfield, California
Contract Dates: July 6, 2026 – November 8, 2026
Shift: 10-Hour Days (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)

Duration: 18 Weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced RN First Assist. You will play a vital role throughout the perioperative process, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role requires advanced surgical expertise, strong clinical judgment, and a commitment to excellence in patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Function as First Assistant during surgical procedures

  • Assist with surgical incision, excision, exposure, and tissue repair

  • Handle and dissect tissues in collaboration with surgeons

  • Clamp vessels, control bleeding, place drains, and assist with wound closure

  • Perform circulating and scrub duties as needed

  • Maintain strict aseptic technique and sterile field integrity

  • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, draping, and transfers

  • Conduct accurate instrument, sponge, and sharps counts

  • Document patient care and surgical interventions appropriately

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize surgical outcomes

  • Mentor and support perioperative staff members
