Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the certified nursing assistants. All care and supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations and laws that govern our facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Graduate from an approved school of nursing
• Current licensure by the State of South Carolina
• Current CPR certification.
Experience:
• Experienced in the care of adult, chronically ill, and/or geriatric persons
• Preferably one or more years experience and demonstrated ability in nursing supervisory in a health care facility
• Knowledge of and ability to provide basic principles of nursing care and techniques.
Skills:
• Professional responsibility in nursing situations and nursing techniques
• Ability to direct, supervise, and utilize ability and efforts of ancillary staff
• Good working relationship with residents, visitors, physicians, and personnel
• Ability to organize and coordinate activities
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Able to adequately perform the physical requirements of the position.
SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
General
  • Coordinates nursing care and care rendered by others through an appropriate individualized care plan
  • Plan, direct and supervise the nursing care give by CNAs
  • Makes rounds on each shift on every assigned resident to identify care needs, change of condition, and to evaluate nursing care
  • Provide safe, suitable environment for residents
  • Administer and document medications and treatments in compliance with facility policy and procedure
  • Responsible for IV therapy according to facility policy
  • Report results of labs, x-ray, etc. to physician, documenting call, response, and new orders as appropriate.
  • Complete daily charting as assigned
  • Ensures documentation is complete and legible at all times
  • Performs tests, treatments, and procedures as ordered by the physician and in accordance written plan of car and facility policy
  • Make rounds with visiting physicians, completes appropriate follow-up to new orders, revising plan of care, etc.
  • Prepare residents for and assist with as needed, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treatments, and examinations
  • Observe, report and record findings/changes in resident condition (i.e., signs, symptoms, reactions, behavior, and complaints) to physician and nursing personnel
  • Report change of condition to physician and families. Follow up on orders and document
  • Communicates residents' condition and nursing care to appropriate people i.e.., supervisor, administrator, physician, family, etc.
  • Follows incident/accident policy for appropriate response, recording and reporting
  • Assist with teaching residents, families, and personnel, and supervises resident practice of activities
  • Provide continuity and establishes priority of resident care to a group of residents
  • Responds to and directs care in emergency situations using good judgment and established polices and procedures.
  • Initiates CPR and directs code procedures
  • Complete admission process of new residents in compliance with facility policies
  • Assure safe and effective transfer of resident to hospital or home with current information and appropriate documentation.
  • Gives thorough report to oncoming charge nurse and details changes in conditions, incidents, new orders etc..
  • Assures cleanliness and order of nursing station
