Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Maintain and assist staff in quality patient care within nursing standards of practice. Appropriately support and implement Center's Treatment Philosophy of Dignity, Respect and Understanding of our patients. Demonstrate initiative, innovations, care and proficiency, a high level of responsibility and an attitude conducive to the effective functioning of the therapeutic milieu. Expected to learn the basic knowledge and skills for Collaborative Problem Solving.

EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE

  • One to two years clinical experience in psychiatric setting
  • Child/adolescent psychiatry experience preferred

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Registered Nurse, State of Texas
  • First Aide, CPR
  • SAMA

THE ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION

  • Assess, implement and evaluate patient within scope of nursing practice
  • Provide leadership during crisis situations to promote safety in least restrictive manner
  • Demonstrate competency in Collaborative Problem Solving core area within established time frames:
    • Introductory concepts and attitudes:
    • Triggers and Pathways
    • Plans A, B and C
    • Milieu Assessment Plans
  • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration daily with clinicalteam and supervisors to appropriately plan for patient care, implementationof physician orders, scheduling appointments and notification of test results.
  • Completion of documentation is accurate and prior to the end of the shift
  • Demonstrates solid understanding of psychiatric medications and provideseducation to patients and families.
  • Demonstrates accuracy in administration of medication, as needed
  • Provide for the delegation of staff assignments considering patient acuity levels and staff experience.
  • Ensures the adherence of unit programming, patient treatment plans and ageappropriate patient groups.
