Job description

Job purpose
A Daytime Warehouse Associate is a highly physical role. The purpose of the position is to offload trucks and confirm that all product received matches the purchase order and to accurately record and safely store inbound products in the proper location in our warehouse. In addition, a daytime Warehouse Associate may pick, prepare and pack orders for delivery.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Prepare the receiving dock for incoming orders and maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Assist shipping and receiving by unloading trucks and checking in merchandise; track and monitor all inbound product for that day.
  • When receiving product in, breakdown Purchase Order (PO) by item on a separate pallet.
  • Verify product and quantities with purchase orders.
  • Handle all products with care to avoid damages and loss
  • Compare packing list to the product received, all numbers should match. If not, note this on the packing list and inform the Operations Supervisor or the VP of Operations.
  • When doing "put away" confirm total by pallet/cases from dock status to reserve location.
  • Use pump pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, sit-down hi-lo forklift, stand-up hi-lo forklift and safety ladders to stock product on warehouse shelves.
  • Fill out pre and post trip sheets for fork lifts and pallet jacks.
  • Communicate daily with department representatives regarding inventory and incoming shipments.
  • Maintain an orderly flow of product moving through the warehouse, ensuring accurate and efficient movement
  • Prepare orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area
  • Prepare parcels for mailing
  • Pick up damaged items when found and bring them to the appropriate area for assessment and repackaging
  • Place any odd ball cases found in pick slots in the correct pick location.
  • Pick slots: fill using the right block and tier, avoid over filling, store additional product in reserve slot, level pick slots during the course of the day and keep like items in the same aisle as pick
  • Record any and all moves in the RF gun every time
  • Take initiative to accomplish open tasks; be proactive and seek additional work when available
  • Safety: Complete safety training session and pass safety training test at time of hire and on an annual basis.
  • Safety: Act in compliance with safety practices and procedures throughout the warehouse. Report any safety concerns to VP of Operations.
  • Observe rules regarding no cell phone use in the warehouse.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations neat; sweep, dust and mop as needed.
  • Maintain positive work relations; support team work and help coworkers to accomplish team goals
  • Listen and communicate respectfully with employees at all levels within the organization and outside vendors
  • Attendance: Maintain regular attendance and follow call out and time off procedures as outlined in the handbook.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • The position includes all other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the Day Warehouse team or as may be assigned.

Work Environment
This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses equipment such as sit-down and stand-up hi-lo fork lifts, pump and electric pallet jacks, ladders and RF scanner guns.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are forty (40) or more hours per week, with assigned start and end times in the range of 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This position may occasionally require longer hours when workload or project deadlines require it.
Travel- Driving is not required for this role, but a warehouse associate may, on occasion, accompany a Driver on a delivery and assist with unloading the product.

Specific vision requirements for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb stairs/ladders; stoop; kneel; crouch; balance; use hands to finger, handle or feel a keypad, handheld device or phone; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee frequently is required to lift/carry 25-50 pounds safely from floor to waist height, and from waist height to shoulders. Occasionally, the employee will be expected to lift/carry up 25-50 pounds above the shoulders. Occasionally, the employee will be expected to lift/carry over 50 pounds. Frequently the employee will be expected push/pull items from 25 - 50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
