Job Summary:


The Retail Trainer ensures consistent execution of retail operations across all Goodwill Industries of Tulsa store locations through standardized onboarding, training, certification, recertification, coaching, and competency validation. This role develops and delivers training programs for Retail Associates, Assistant Managers, and Store Managers while ensuring compliance with SOPs, company policies, safety standards, and customer service expectations. The Retail Trainer validates training effectiveness and operational consistency through regular assessments, providing reinforcement and corrective training to ensure all store teams execute established processes consistently.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver standardized onboarding and training programs for Retail Associates, Assistant Managers, and Store Managers.
  • Facilitate instructor-led, hands-on, virtual, and on-the-job training using adult learning principles.
  • Train team members on retail SOPs, customer service standards, safety requirements, merchandising practices, donation processing, production expectations, and cash handling procedures.
  • Conduct certification and recertification activities to validate employee competency and training store compliance.
  • Perform training and operational assessments to verify consistent execution of established procedures across all retail locations.
  • Monitor and document training completion, certifications, recertifications, and competency validation records.
  • Identify training gaps and provide coaching, reinforcement, and corrective training to improve knowledge and consistency.
  • Partner with Retail Directors and Store Managers to assess training needs and support employee development.
  • Develop, maintain, and update training materials, job aids, checklists, guides, and other learning resources.
  • Support implementation and training of new SOPs, operational initiatives, technology, and process improvements.
  • Analyze training, certification, and assessment results to identify trends and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, operational consistency, accountability, and exceptional customer service through effective training and validation practices.

Other Job Functions:


  • Travel between retail locations to deliver training, conduct certifications, and validate operational consistency.
  • Support new store openings, remodels, relocations, and implementation of operational initiatives.
  • Assist with training and rollout of new SOPs, processes, systems, and company programs.
  • Participate in meetings, professional development, and ongoing learning to maintain training effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of retail operations and workforce development


Educational Requirements:


Bachelor's degree required or an equivalent combination of education and retail leadership, training or operational experience.


Minimum two years of experience in training and development, preferably in retail or operational environments.

Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design, is preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain Goodwill’s Drug‑Free Workplace and safety‑sensitive standards.
  • Ability to work independently and travel between multiple sites.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365, mobile apps, and documentation tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, facilitation, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust and rapport quickly.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting training.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate retail operational tasks such as processing, merchandising, etc.
  • Flexible schedule may include early mornings or occasional weekends to align with site needs.
