General Notes

OnRamps prepares students and teachers for success in the classroom and beyond. We build partnerships across K12 and higher education to raise the bar on dynamic experiences that advance student success while lowering barriers to access and opportunity.

Purpose

This position supports the OnRamps Physics (PHY302K and PHY102M) courses. The Physics Graders work in close collaboration with the OnRamps Physics Team and mentor graders to deliver timely and thoughtful feedback and scores using Canvas SpeedGrader. They may also be required to complete tasks related to the OnRamps Physics course content or assets and to provide just-in-time assistance with seasonal and urgent projects.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains accuracy and consistency while grading course assignments and assessments in Canvas Learning Management System.

  • Delivers timely and thoughtful feedback to students.

  • Attends calibration meetings with the OnRamps Physics course staff, Physics IOR, or Mentor Graders.

  • Assists with other OnRamps Physics course tasks as necessary.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned or pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or in a closely related field.

  • Knowledge of and experience with scientific writing.

  • Experience providing feedback and critiques based on provided rubrics.

  • Experience in Canvas LMS.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate Teaching Assistant experience in physics or closely related field

  • Graduate school (M.A., M.S., or Ph.D.) teaching experience in Physics or in a closely related field.

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Canvas Learning Management System, Smartsheet.

Salary

$12.00 - $14.50 hourly
