With a salary range of USD 80,000 โ€“ 100,000 annually, this position not only rewards your expertise but also offers the flexibility to craft your own schedule.

About the Organization

Better Living Behavioral Health Services is an innovative online platform designed to support individuals seeking to change their relationship with alcohol. Our mission is to provide affordable and accessible evidence-based care while fostering a supportive community for recovery. Through anonymous connections to therapist-led groups, educational resources, and direct access to licensed medical professionals, we ensure that every client receives personalized treatment tailored to their unique challenges. Our founder's personal journey through recovery inspired this mission, affirming our commitment to delivering quality service and support for long-term health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set your own hours and manage your availability without any minimum hour requirements, allowing for an ideal work-life balance.
  • Provide effective mental health counseling using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, focusing on both moderation and abstinence in their recovery journey, as per their needs.
  • Lead support groups and partner with our Content Manager to share valuable insights through โ€œExpert Insightsโ€ articles, as optional contributions.
  • Facilitate the patient journey by reducing administrative work; our dedicated team handles billing and paperwork.
  • Receive client referrals and ensure ongoing communication with clients to optimize their treatment experience.
  • Stay updated in your practice by obtaining Continuing Education Units (CEUs), with all costs covered by Better Living.
  • Participate in optional monthly peer group meetings to exchange ideas and foster collaboration.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on adults seeking assistance in managing their relationship with alcohol. Many clients will benefit from a harm-reduction model, where you will support their journey, whether that involves moderation or abstinence. It is crucial to understand their diverse backgrounds and tailor your approach according to individual therapeutic needs, while fostering an encouraging and empathetic environment.

Qualifications
  • Must hold a current and valid license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of California.
  • Experience or training in evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Familiarity with community recovery support resources, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Smart Recovery, and Moderation Management.
  • Demonstrated clinical engagement skills, empathy, and a commitment to supporting clients through their recovery journeys.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in a telehealth or remote counseling role is highly desired.
  • Experience working within a community recovery framework and understanding of varied treatment models.
  • Familiarity with the latest research and techniques in substance use counseling.
