Work Environment

This LCSW position is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility while still maintaining a vital role within our correctional healthcare setting. The daily work hours are typically Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts, rotating weekends, and on-call availability when urgent mental health situations arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for individuals, evaluating their personal history, presenting concerns, and specific risk factors.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with inmates, addressing mental health challenges and supporting their emotional well-being.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused therapy to treat various mental health issues.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions to enhance personal growth and effective coping skills, ensuring that sessions are tailored to the unique needs of our inmate population.
  • Collaborate with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals to coordinate care, optimizing the overall treatment approach.
  • Provide crisis intervention during mental health emergencies, employing de-escalation techniques and making timely referrals when necessary.
  • Educate inmates and their families about mental health conditions, empowering them with knowledge about treatment options and available community resources.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, adhering to legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary meetings and case conferences, contributing insights and fostering collaboration within the team.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution is required.
  • Possession of a current and valid LCSW licensure in the state of Tennessee.
