Job description

Full-time baker's assistant available at a well-established Mom and pop bakery.  We are looking for a person who is passionate about baking and enjoys working in the food business.
A baker's assistant supports bakers in preparing, baking, and presenting baked goods while maintaining a clean, organized, and friendly bakery environment.  

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Baking Support: Baker's assistants measure and prepare ingredients, mix doughs and batters, shape and fill pastries, and assist with baking tasks under the supervision of a baker or head baker. They may also help with decorating baked goods, packaging finished products, and ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
Kitchen Organization and Inventory: Baker's assistants restock ingredients and supplies, organize storage areas and prep stations, monitor stock levels, and notify supervisors when items are low. Proper labeling and storage of ingredients are essential for efficiency and safety.

Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace is critical. Duties include cleaning baking equipment, utensils, and work surfaces, disposing of waste, and following food safety and hygiene standards
Team Support: They assist the bakery team during high-volume periods, support production schedules, and help ensure smooth daily operations.
 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Attention to detail for accurate measuring and following recipes
  • Physical stamina for standing long hours and handling heavy ingredients
  • Knowledge of food handling and hygiene practices
  • Friendly communication skills
  • Reliability and willingness to work early mornings or weekends
  • Typically, at least one year of experience in a bakery, café, or similar environment is preferred
