The Utility Track Hoe Operator will report directly to the Construction Manager. In this role, the track hoe operator will use heavy equipment to dig trenches, expose underground pipes, and move debris, supporting sewer system installation, maintenance, and repair for a wastewater company. This position is vital for ensuring crews can access and work on wastewater lines safely and efficiently. The operator must adhere to safety guidelines, maintain equipment, and be available for on-call emergencies. The role also offers opportunities for career growth and requires a strong commitment to integrity and contributing to a positive company outlook.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week with rotating weekend hours and on-call schedule. Overtime as needed.

Work Location: This position will primarily be based in Houston and surrounding areas, with responsibilities extending to surrounding areas, as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for safe operation of machines, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment.
  • Discusses plans for the day's work with field manager, reviews work plans and determines best method of getting assigned work done safely, accurately, and on time.
  • Performs equipment maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing and oiling machines.
  • Operates equipment with priority of making the job safe for all persons working around the equipment.
  • Ensures that other workers stay clear of machine while working in tight places and ensures that there is teamwork between self and other operators working at the project site.
  • Make judgments regarding the most efficient operations of equipment and attachments.
  • Compliance with all Polices
  • Equipment repair / maintenance procedures and Operator Safety Standards

Required Qualifications and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license and a history of responsible driving (drivers with multiple moving violations or a D.U.I. within the past 5 years are ineligible to drive for the company).
  • Candidates will undergo background screening and motor vehicle record checks as part of the hiring process.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, preferably in the wastewater or utility sector.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to speak and hear: 4-8 hours/day;
  • Walking & standing: 4-8 hours/day;
  • Bending, reaching, pushing, pulling: 4-8 hours/day;
  • Use hands & fingers to handle, touch, and reach: 4-8 hours/day;
  • Climb stairs and/or ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and sit;
  • Lift 10-25 lbs regularly; up to 50 lbs occasionally;
  • Vision: Must be able to distinguish color and have both close and distance vision;
  • Ability to operate gasoline, diesel, or gas-powered motors and use hand tools.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Work is performed both inside and outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold temperatures, snow, and ice.
  • Noise level: Moderate.
