My Client is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of heavy civil, utility infrastructure, water, sewer, and trenchless construction projects. The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements. Client Details My Client is a family-owned and operated heavy civil construction contractor headquartered in North Jersey. Since 1990, the company has specialized in water and sewer infrastructure, utility construction, trenchless technology, emergency services, bridge work, and site development projects for municipalities, utility authorities, and private clients throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Description Job Description Project Coordination & Administration Support Project Managers in the planning, execution, and closeout of heavy civil and utility construction projects. Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking. Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, permits, and project documentation. Maintain accurate project records, correspondence logs, meeting minutes, and contract documents. Coordinate project activities with clients, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field operations teams. Field Operations Support Perform regular site visits to monitor project progress, productivity, quality, and safety compliance. Assist Superintendents with work planning, procurement scheduling, and manpower coordination. Verify quantities installed and support project reporting requirements. Coordinate material deliveries, equipment utilization, and subcontractor activities. Cost Control & Reporting Track project costs and assist with budget management. Support monthly project forecasting and financial reporting. Assist with owner billings, subcontractor payments, and change order pricing. Monitor procurement activities and long-lead material deliveries. Quality & Safety Promote compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements. Participate in inspections, quality control processes, and project audits. Support environmental compliance and permit adherence. Help identify and resolve project risks before they impact cost or schedule. Technical Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents. Assist in quantity takeoffs and project estimates as needed. Coordinate utility relocations, testing requirements, and project closeout activities. Support construction activities involving water mains, sewer systems, force mains, pump stations, trenchless installations, roadway reconstruction, and related infrastructure projects. Profile Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 1-5 years of construction, engineering, or project management experience in heavy civil, utility, or infrastructure construction. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word. Ability to travel to project sites throughout the region. Preferred Qualifications Internship or project experience within heavy civil, utility, water/wastewater, or municipal construction. Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project. Knowledge of public works construction and utility infrastructure. OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.
