What is a weekend project coordinator?

Weekend Project Coordinators are professionals responsible for overseeing and managing projects that occur during weekends. They ensure that all aspects of a project, such as scheduling, resource allocation, and communication, run smoothly outside of regular weekday hours. Their duties often include coordinating with team members, monitoring progress, addressing any issues that arise, and ensuring project milestones are met on time. This role is critical in industries where operations or events take place over the weekend, such as construction, events, or facility maintenance.

How does a weekend project coordinator typically manage communication and collaboration with teams that may have limited availability during weekends?

As a Weekend Project Coordinator, you'll often encounter the challenge of collaborating with team members who may not be working standard hours. Effective communication is key—this usually involves setting clear expectations ahead of the weekend, leveraging project management tools to track progress, and scheduling brief check-ins or status updates at mutually convenient times. Coordinators often rely on asynchronous communication methods, such as emails or shared dashboards, to ensure everyone stays informed. Building strong relationships during the week can also help secure support and prompt responses when needed over the weekend.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend project coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Project Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, project management knowledge, and often a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with project management software like Trello, Microsoft Project, or Asana, as well as basic office tools, is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities help you coordinate teams and deliver results under tight deadlines. These skills ensure projects stay on track and stakeholders remain informed, even during non-standard work hours.

Job description

Join the Team That's Building the Future of Fiber!
Zero dB Communications (ZdB) is one of the West Coast's fastest-growing full-turnkey fiber optic contractors. Founded in 2011 and led by Zach Kuhlmann, we've built a reputation for delivering high-quality design, engineering, construction, splicing, and testing across the western United States. With 90+ years of combined OSP experience, our team knows how to build networks that perform today and stand strong tomorrow.
From FTTH and Metro-E to long-haul P2P, data center builds, and 24/7 emergency response, we take on the industry's toughest projects-and we do them right. If you want to join a team known for precision, reliability, and tackling complex fiber challenges, ZdB is where you belong.
The primary responsibility of the Project Coordinator (PC) is to oversee project planning from initiation through completion, and organizing and monitoring all department approved projects. The PC will support daily operations for fiber optic construction projects; ensuring crews, materials, locates, permits, and customer requirements are aligned and executed on schedule.
