Job description

Interactive Media User Testing Project
The Interactive Media Department is looking for students to assist with their product testing for the "Virtual, Augmented, Mixed Reality Readiness" project. The VAMRR project is initiating User Testing of their designs, and is looking to hire additional students as User Testers.
Applicants will test a wide variety of Extended Reality products and technology, including but not limited to: Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, and physical products. All technology tested will involve some form of physical interaction, but no extraneous activities will be requested of users. Participation involving use of a virtual or augmented reality headset may cause dizziness, motion sickness, or discomfort.
The nature of User Testing means there are no right or wrong behaviors; should they be selected as a tester, applicants are asked to keep an open mind and present their honest expectations of the product or technology. Please note that taking part in each individual user test is voluntary, and obtaining the User Testing position does not mean that you will be selected as a User Tester for a given test (each test is first come first serve on a volunteer basis). Sessions will be audio/video recorded for data validation purposes.
  • User testers need no specific skill set to be qualified for this position, but must be age 18 or older.
  • Individuals with a history of seizures or sensitivity to flashing lights should not participate, and screening prior to testing will take place to ensure any adverse side effects are mitigated.
  • Due to Federal Grant restrictions, participants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Preference may be given to students who will be in Peoria over the summer so that User Testing can be conducted, if needed.

User Testing is not a frequent activity. Students will only be needed for 30 to 90 minutes during each User Test, and they may not be needed for User Testing again for at least a month (or potentially longer).
Testers will be paid at the rate of $15 per hour.
The next User Test is anticipated to be conducted in April 2026 in GCC #325.
When applying, please answer all the questions in the application. Failure to complete the questions may result in non-selection.
Thank you for your interest in employment at Bradley University. Some undergraduate students (with limited family resources as determined by the results of the FAFSA) qualify for Work Study funds to help offset costs of college. This is a federally-funded opportunity to earn "spending money" through part-time, on-campus employment. Eligibility for work-study does not guarantee you will find a campus job. Contact Financial Services for more information or to see if you qualify at 309-677-3089 or bufinaid@bradley.edu
Questions about this test may be directed to the proctor in charge of this test: Associate Professor Heather Ford at (309) 677- 3409 or hjford@fsmail.bradley.edu. If you have general questions about being a test participant, you may contact the Committee on the Use of Human Subjects office at (309) 677-3877.
