Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

Join a dynamic team in the Pre-Op unit, where we prioritize patient care and communication. The unit is equipped with the following:

  • Number of Beds: 9 Pre-op beds, 5 Phase 2 recovery beds
  • Staffing: 8 full-time RNs (with 2 open positions), 2 part-time RNs, 4 PRN RNs, and 1 unit Health Unit Coordinator
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3
  • Type of Equipment: Pyxis, GE MACVU EKG machine, Doppler, patient scale, bladder scanner
  • Electronic Medical Records: Meditech
Responsibilities

As a Pre-Operative Registered Nurse, your role includes:

  • Administering Phase 2 recoveries for Urology, GYN, and other Same Day Surgery patients
  • Overseeing pre-operative procedures for surgery, endoscopy, catheter lab, electrophysiology, and computed tomography patients
  • Providing outpatient infusions, EKGs, nerve blocks, and blood transfusions
Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of 1 year of recent acute care experience in a Pre-Op RN role
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Preferred:

  • Experience in pre-operative care or the ability to assist the pre-op staff
  • Familiarity with Meditech EMR systems
