Job description

PRN Registered Nurse (RN)

The PRN Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing assessments and oversight of caregivers and patients in their homes in accordance with physician orders, agency policies, and applicable federal and Florida state regulations. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, implementing and coordinating care plans, providing patient and family education, and ensuring high-quality, compassionate care while promoting patient safety and independence, and supervision of care staff.

Location: Southern Pinellas County (assigned client homes)

Employment Type: PRN / Per Diem

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct, one-on-one nursing care to assigned private duty clients in the home
  • Perform ongoing patient assessments and monitor changes in condition
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Provide non-skilled nursing care as appropriate, which may include:
    • Medication monitoring
    • Vital sign monitoring
    • Chronic condition management
    • Documentation using EMR
  • Communicate patient status and concerns to physicians, agency supervisors, and family members
  • Educate clients and caregivers on care routines, medications, and safety practices
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided
  • Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines at all times
  • Promote client independence, dignity, and comfort
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow agency protocols
  • Lead orientation for new caregivers
  • Work full time or close to it to cover other RN vacation time
Qualifications
  • Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience preferred (private duty, home care, or long-term care experience a plus)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
  • Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel to patient homes within the service area
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform nursing tasks in a home environment
