Job description

The hourly rate for this position is $39.51.

Nature and Scope

  • All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member.
  • Works primarily on regular and heavy mobile equipment in the underground mine.
  • Will perform work in the areas of mechanical maintenance and/or electrical repairs on mobile equipment.
  • Installs repairs and performs preventative maintenance on mine and plant mobile equipment.
  • Some fabrication, assembly, welding, and cutting using sound maintenance practices designed to maintain high reliability.
  • Dismantles, repairs, and reassembles mobile equipment components to minimize downtime.
  • Performs preventative/predictive maintenance using advanced tools.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Troubleshoot mobile equipment problems to achieve and maintain maximum productivity. 
  • Perform immediate basic repairs to facilitate continuous operation. 
  • Report maintenance problems to the appropriate supervisor for action and/or participate in corrective actions if appropriate.
  • Keep up to date on all maintenance and safety procedural changes and be involved in developing new procedures as required.
  • Make preventive/predictive inspections and document findings as determined by the Mobile Maintenance Coordinator and continuous improvement groups.
  • Perform necessary tasks to ensure good housekeeping for safe and efficient operation.
  • Fill out and follow up on work orders and assist, when necessary, in locating and issuing stores materials.
  • Identify, report and assist in resolution of safety and environmental concerns and work practices that may affect the Health & Safety of employees or other parties.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned from time to time.  Work any shifts, including weekends, nights and paid holidays as schedules dictate.

 Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or GED is required. 
  • Able to perform physical labor, good communication abilities and perform job requirements and essential functions in a safe manner.
  • Formal training/certification in mobile equipment, mechanical or electrical maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Minimum five years of hands-on experience working in heavy manufacturing environment including:
    • Heavy Mobile Equipment Maintenance
      • Preference given to applicants with previous experience with CAT ET/SIS
    • Diesel Engine Maintenance
    • Mechanical equipment
    • Welding and fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and maintenance manuals.  Must be able to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Must be able to weld in all positions and be proficient in the following processes: SMAW, FCAW and GMAW.  Will be welding mobile equipment structural frames.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow workers and supervisors and be able to write routine reports and correspondence.  Experience in Tabware or other CMMS is desirable.
  • Minimum score of 65% or greater on average on the NOCTI test administered during selection.

Training:

  • The successful candidate will receive MSHA safety training as required and will enter Job Specific training as designated by the Mobile Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Additional training will be provided as appropriate.
