Job description

Dunbarton Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our team whom is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, and replacing plant equipment and systems, ensuring facility upkeep, and supporting maximum production quality and efficiency in alignment with company policies.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee and lead the Maintenance Department, coordinating and integrating all activities toward the achievement of established goals and objectives including developing and implementing department policies and procedures
  • Lead and prioritize department staff scheduling, work activities, decision-making, personnel matters, and policy communication
  • Develop and manage a proactive maintenance program focused on planning, scheduling, and preventive/predictive maintenance
  • Monitor inventory of spare parts, supplies, and equipment; reorder as needed and prepare capital requests to support production goals
  • Maintain regular communication with department staff to address maintenance issues and prioritize tasks based on urgency
  • Coordinate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth operations and develop strong interdepartmental communication
  • Ensure staff are properly trained, equipped, and motivated to perform maintenance safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively
  • Track and analyze key maintenance metrics (e.g., asset utilization, downtime, costs, schedule compliance) and present findings clearly
  • Oversee and enforce departmental safety programs; review safety records and implement proactive safety measures
  • Support plant layout planning, facility rearrangement, and implementation of Lean, 6S, and Kaizen initiatives
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
  • Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements, including nights and weekends
  • Performs other work as directed and required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of maintenance strategies and technologies
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, environmental compliance, and industrial safety protocols
  • Knowledge of the metal fabrication process and production methods
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), paint systems, roll mills, sheet metal forming processes, and spot welders
  • Skill in maintenance budgeting, capital planning, and cost analysis
  • Skill in advising and training others
  • Skill in use of computer hardware and software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
  • Skill in interpreting blueprints, work orders, and technical documentation
  • Skill in data analysis and reporting for production and quality metric
  • Skill in using CMMS software, PLCs, and diagnostic tools
  • Ability to handle urgent repairs while maintaining long-term maintenance schedules
  • Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in high-stress, fast-paced environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns


Qualifications

Required

  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in machine maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Two (2) or more years of experience directly supervising a group of employees

Preferred

  • Four (4) year degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in a directly related subject
  • LEAN, 6S, Kaizen and Six Sigma training
  • OSHA Safety Certification
  • Maintenance Management Certification

Note: At the discretion of the hiring manager and/or the Human Resources Manager an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Occasionally will work in high, precarious places and occasionally is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
