Description

Position Summary

The Truck Driver / Crane Oiler assists the crane operator on job tasks during the operation of the crane and provides rigging operation and hand signals to ensure safe lifting of the load. Loads and secures equipment (spreader bars, mats, counterweights, etc.) then drives truck to location. Follows all State and Federal laws while operating motor vehicle. Obeys all safety and environmental policies while performing work on the job site.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists the crane operator in the proper set-up of the equipment
  • Assists the crane operator in the maintenance of the crane and accessory equipment
  • Understands and performs proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of the load
  • Cleans outside and cab of assigned vehicle daily
  • Cleans and inspects equipment in shop and yard
  • Controls movements of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces
  • Dismantles, maintains and stores rigging equipment
  • Manipulate and hoist rigging lines to move or support materials, steel and concrete
  • Selects gears, cables and shackles according to load size, facilities and work schedule
  • Utilizes proper hand signals to give direction to workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials
  • Properly secures equipment to the trailer before operating truck
  • Inspects truck and trailer, turns in trucks inspection report daily to the supervisor, reports any mechanical defects and documents maintenance or repairs
  • Prepares all necessary rigging and equipment for next day jobs before ending current shift
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations creating a safe working environment
  • Other job duties as assigned




Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills
  • Pass drug test, background, and medical check
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Daily and monthly vehicle inspections

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience
  • 1-3 years of rigging and commercial driving experience

License & Certification:

  • Class A CDL with acceptable driving record
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Rigger/Signalman Certifications
  • AWP/Forklift Certifications
  • OSHA 10

Working Conditions:

Work is normally performed on various job sites and terrain. Work is normally perform outdoors, and exposure to risk and all weather conditions is associated with this position. The ability to drive at night and in all weather conditions is required. The Operator must maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment. Frequently walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions is associated with this position. Must be able to climb on and off trucks, cranes, and heavy mobile equipment safely. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment.
