Job description

Equipment Maintenance Mechanic
Our client is a leading manufacturer of snack food located in Piscataway NJ. They produce a wide range of snack chips, sticks, straws, curls, popcorn, on 10 fully automated production and packaging lines. They operate 3-shifts 24/hours Monday-Friday.
They are seeking experienced equipment mechanics specializing in Food Processing and Packaging machinery. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in: AC and DC motors and wiring, 1 phase vs.3 phases voltage, electrical components, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, relays, etc. with flexible work schedule, including the ability to work nights, holidays, weekends, and overtime.
Machine & Equipment Mechanic Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic, system components of all food manufacturing machinery, packaging machinery, and material handling equipment; i.e. baking and popcorn machinery, oil delivery systems, dry powder seasoning distribution systems, chocolate drizzle and enrobing components, sifters, conveyors, hoppers, packaging bag and corrugate equipment, cartoners, air compressor equipment, etc.

  • Install, repair, or replace electrical devices such as transformers, relays, circuit breakers, starters, safety and limit switches, AC / DC motors, positive displacement and transfer pumps, etc.

  • Perform preventative maintenance checklists. And maintain spare parts inventory for manufacturing and packaging equipment and re-order as necessary. Maintain service and repair records.

  • Train factory operators on the operation of all food processing and packaging equipment using best practice, safety, and efficiency.

Machine & Equipment Mechanic Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in repairing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and maintenance, of food processing and packaging equipment in a manufacturing facility (preferably food).

  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics; instrumentation and sensor calibration; variable frequency drives; AC/DC motors.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills; Effective written and verbal communication skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment where a broad range of tasks may be required. And must be able to work in a cold environment and in confined spaces. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Must possess a strong safety ethic.

  • * Bi-Lingual is a plus
