Day to day as a Lifeguard

As a Seasonal Lifeguard at the Jewish Community Center of Louisville, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and enjoyable swimming environment for our members. Daily expectations include monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety regulations, and providing assistance to swimmers as needed. You will also be responsible for performing routine safety checks and ensuring that the pool area is clean and well-maintained. Would you be a great Lifeguard?

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Lifeguard Responsibilities

    • Maintain constant surveillance of the pool areas.
    • Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately.
    • Knows, understands, and consistently applies and communicates pool rules and guidelines
    • Maintains current certifications required by The Trager Family JCC and the local Health Department.
    • Perform chemical testing as required.
    • Attends all staff meetings as required by the Aquatics Director and the Assistant Aquatic Director.

    Lifeguard Requirements

    • 15 years of age or older
    • Completion of lifeguard training
    • Must have a current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)
