What is the position where you can add value?

 Tekni-Plex in Blauvelt, NY (Rockland County) is looking for: 

A 1st Shift Electrical Mechanical Technician with Industrial Experience - (7:00 am - 3:30 pm)  

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing all types of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment, and building. Qualified candidates need to be able to work independently, have thorough knowledge of current National Electrical Code, read blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturers' installation manuals to complete assigned projects. 

 Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties include but not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned):  

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair moderate to complex equipment problems, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical issues.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of multi-meters, hand tools, and computers and strong ability to troubleshoot many various types of electronic systems, install new equipment and make repairs.
  • Electrical work on installation of new services, trouble shooting, grounding and repairs. 
  • Plan, layout, install and repair a wide variety of complex electrical equipment including automatic machine and process controls.
  • Ability to read meters, schematic diagrams, blueprints, other measuring instruments, understand plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical system and basic computer skills.
  •  Repair mechanical equipment while diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus, inspecting and testing equipment.
  • Perform work in all maintenance categories as need.
  • Maintain building mechanical and basic electrical preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.  To be Capable of data entry and some analysis of Maintenance Management System.
  • Follow and participates in plant safety/housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Promote worker safety.
  • Ensure Quality products and processes are maintained.
  •  Actively participate in the continuous improvement process (CIP).
  • Must be able to work efficiently alone as well as with a team without supervision.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What skills do you bring to the role?

  • 3 to 7 years of industrial experience (mechanical & electrical) or equivalent, preferable (experience in Hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical fields).
  • Demonstrated experience on 3-phase electricity, PLC, control wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Strong electrical background with emphasis around controls.
  • Experience with handling of ESD sensitive items. 
  • Ability to work on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional work weekend as needed.
  • Good communication skills is required.
  • Previous related experience or technical school degree with emphasis on mechanical and basic electrical components. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing environment. 
  • High School diploma or GED certification.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office aps. and have experience with CMMS preferably.
  • Knowledge and experience with polymer extrusion a plus.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish is a plus.

Pay range - $28 - $42 per hour based on demonstrable skills and previous experience
