Site Survey and Service Technician – Direct Residential Solar Evaluative Engineering and Field Technical Diagnostics


Job Overview

The Opportunity

You will serve as the principal technical evaluator, managing pre-installation structural analyses and advanced electrical system configurations. This high-impact role provides the field autonomy to dictate project design accuracy while leading critical post-installation diagnostic service missions. You will directly affect system build quality and operational longevity, backed by an expert organization that prioritizes elite craft execution.


How You Will Make An Impact

  • Perform technical pre-installation site surveys encompassing structural roof measurements, pitch analysis, and shading evaluations.
  • Assess electrical readiness by mapping existing service panels, distribution lines, and physical access configurations.
  • Document critical asset parameters and structural constraints utilizing specialized digital suites like Aurora and CompanyCam.
  • Diagnose complex post-installation solar array faults down to individual inverter elements and rapid shutdown networks.
  • Execute precise, code-compliant adjustments within energized main distribution panels and AC/DC disconnect points.
  • Coordinate with centralized design engineers to reconcile field conditions against preliminary structural blueprints.
  • Enforce rigorous personal and crew safety protocols when operating at elevated heights or handling high-voltage arrays.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of verified field experience specializing in solar technical site surveys or installation service.
  • Clear capability to work confidently and safely around residential electrical configurations and high-voltage circuitry.
  • Full physical capacity to climb tall extension ladders, navigate high pitched roofs, and manage technical toolsets.
  • Valid driver’s license paired with a demonstrated record of safe, responsible personal vehicle operation.
  • Advanced technical literacy utilizing mobile tablets, field documentation software, and cloud-based operating platforms.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated mastery using localized solar software architectures including Aurora, CompanyCam, and Enerflo platforms.
