Job description

Description & Requirements
In-N-Out Burger is seeking a highly skilled Senior Physical Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of our enterprise-wide physical security systems. In this role, you will be the technical authority for our security infrastructure, ensuring the protection of our physical assets, personnel, and facilities. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between traditional physical security and IT networking, driving large-scale infrastructure deployments, system integrations, and continuous risk mitigation.
*This role is based full-time in our San Dimas, CA office
Key Responsibilities
  • System Design & Architecture: Plan, engineer, and oversee the implementation of comprehensive physical security solutions, including advanced video surveillance (CCTV), access control systems, intrusion detection, and alarm platforms.
  • Large-Scale Project Management: Lead multi-site physical security and infrastructure projects, managing everything from equipment distribution to complex hardware and server upgrades across distributed locations.
  • System Administration & Integration: Maintain, tune, and troubleshoot physical security software and hardware. Ensure seamless integration of security systems with IT infrastructure, networking, and back-office environments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with IT, Facilities, Operations, and third-party vendors to identify design conflicts, enforce corporate security standards, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Risk & Vulnerability Management: Conduct comprehensive site risk assessments and vulnerability analyses. Develop and implement secure baseline configurations and remediate identified vulnerabilities in security hardware and software.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate emerging security technologies and established procedures, making strategic recommendations to improve the organization's overall resilience and security posture.

  • Salary Pay Range : $130,000 - $160,000 per year

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, or a related field (or equivalent proven experience).
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in physical security engineering, system design, and large-scale enterprise deployments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of IP-based security systems, network architecture, Windows server administration, and database management.
  • Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage complex, concurrent projects, including managing hardware rollouts and coordinating with external contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate highly technical concepts for non-technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry Certifications: ASIS CPP (Certified Protection Professional), PSP (Physical Security Professional), CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Enterprise Platform Expertise: Deep experience configuring and administering enterprise access control and video management platforms (e.g., Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, etc).
  • Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) to automate system health checks, reporting, or cross-platform integrations.
  • Design Tools: Familiarity with CAD, Revit, or BIM software for reviewing and producing physical security architectural drawings.
