Position Summary:

The Senior Physical Security Engineer is responsible for providing design, installation, and technical support for video surveillance and/or door access solutions to our customers. This position will also provide technical expertise and support a variety of security projects/customers while being the onsite technical lead for the project. 


Roles and Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:

  • Work as a member of the HBS Physical Security Team that provides consultative and proactive project management support to HBS's account base. 
  • Obtain knowledge on other technologies, as directed by customer demand. 
  • Provide sales consultants and fellow Engineers with physical security design assistance, review, validation, and optimization of systems and protocols. 
  • Contribute to product selection and research, configuration standards and best practices and educate our sales teams on these products and services so that they can sell them. 
  • Understanding of common vulnerabilities and associated risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Articulate complicated security concepts in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution across the spectrum of systems engineering and integration activities. 
  • Utilize internal and vendor resources to problem solve, determine, and document best path to resolution.
  • Direct resources to team, report on progress, issues, and problem areas, as well as write and review technical documents. 
  • Attend and participate in weekly team calls as directed by the Team Lead.
  • Work in a team atmosphere as both a leader and contributor as assigned to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals. At all times maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor. 
  • Manage tasks assigned effectively without supervision. 
  • Cross-Education/Mentoring of other Heartland Engineers or Technicians or related personnel.
  • Project management. HBS is awarded many large physical security projects and support jobs. The Physical Security Senior Engineer, in many cases, is not only responsible for the installation of PhySec solutions but is responsible for its design and management. 
  • Minimum of 1,450 hours billed per fiscal year prorated based on start date. These charge hour requirements will be balanced against professional development and on the job training.

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years related experience 
  • Experience with Video Surveillance systems and associated hardware/software 
  • IT experience in networking and Windows highly preferred  
  • Experience with basic hand and power tools 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Team oriented and knowledge contributor 
  • Ability to prioritize requirements and meet deadlines 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Access Control systems and associated hardware/software 
  • Experience participating AND leading projects 

Required Skills, Education and/ or Certifications required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or I.T. related discipline and\or equivalent job experience
  • Three or more video surveillance and/or door access manufacturer certifications
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Skills, Education and/ or Certifications required:

  • Axis Certified Professional (required within 60 days)
  • Wisenet Certified Professional (preferred)
  • Open Options DNA Fusion certification (preferred)
  • AMAG Symmetry Associate certification (preferred)
