Role: Performance Engineer
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)
Duration: 6+ months contract

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Performance Engineer with 7+ years of expertise in performance testing, performance engineering, and application scalability. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Apache JMeter and other modern performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, K6, or Gatling, along with expertise in API performance testing, monitoring, and CI/CD integration.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Performance Engineering and Performance Testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apache JMeter (test plans, scripting, parameterization, correlation, distributed testing, listeners, and reporting).
  • Experience with at least one additional performance testing tool such as LoadRunner, K6, or Gatling.
  • Solid experience performing performance testing for Web Applications, APIs, Microservices, and Backend Systems.
  • Experience testing RESTful and SOAP APIs.
  • Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, XML, Web Services, and network fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of performance monitoring and APM tools such as Datadog, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or New Relic.
  • Experience analyzing JVM metrics, thread dumps, heap dumps, logs, server logs, and infrastructure utilization.
  • Familiarity with Next.js application performance optimization.
  • Experience integrating automated performance testing into Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes of performance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases and performance tuning concepts.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Exposure to observability platforms and distributed tracing concepts.
