Payroll SpecialistJob Summary

Adecco is assisting a client in the search for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a growing organization. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The Payroll Specialist will manage payroll administration, employee records, payroll tax compliance, deductions, garnishments, and reporting functions while serving as a trusted resource for employees and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings strong payroll processing experience, exceptional attention to detail, proficiency with leading payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, Dayforce, or Paylocity, and the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.

  • Review employee time records, earnings, commissions, bonuses, deductions, and payroll adjustments.

  • Maintain payroll records for new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, and employee status updates.

  • Ensure accurate calculation and processing of payroll taxes, benefits deductions, garnishments, paid time off, and other withholdings.

  • Reconcile payroll data and audit payroll reports before final submission.

  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and payroll-related issues.

  • Partner with Human Resources, Finance, and operational leaders to ensure payroll accuracy.

  • Support multi-state payroll processing and compliance requirements.

  • Prepare and assist with quarterly, annual, and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reconciliation.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.

  • Support internal and external payroll audits and documentation requests.

  • Monitor changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and company policies.

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, reporting, and operational efficiency.

  • Assist with timekeeping administration, benefit reconciliations, and related payroll projects as needed.

  • Protect confidential employee and compensation information at all times.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, deductions, garnishments, and payroll compliance.

  • Experience utilizing payroll software or HRIS platforms, including:

    • ADP Workforce Now

    • Paychex

    • UKG

    • Workday

    • Ceridian Dayforce

    • Paylocity

    • Similar payroll systems

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and payroll reporting.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet payroll deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-state payroll processing experience.

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).

Pay Range

Pay Details: $55,000.00 to $70,000.00 per year
