Responsibilities

Brasfield & Gorrie is the construction company that puts relationships at the heart of everything we do — and that includes how we build our internal teams.
We're looking for a Payroll Services Coordinator who pairs deep prevailing wage expertise with the drive to make payroll systems work smarter. In this role, you'll own Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage processes from setup through reporting, while helping improve how payroll data, workflows, and tools support the business.
If you're detail-oriented, tech savvy, and energized by turning manual processes into efficient ones, you'll fit right in with a team that values accuracy, initiative, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Own prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon payroll processes end to end, including job setup, wage determinations, fringe and federal sick pay requirements, ongoing compliance, and Certified Payroll reporting.
  • Set up and maintain prevailing wage projects, classifications, rates, and compliance requirements in JD Edwards Oracle EnterpriseOne, eMars, and related systems.
  • Process weekly and monthly payroll, payroll adjustments, labor corrections, and burden allocations accurately and on time.
  • Prepare, review, and submit Certified Payroll reports and related documentation with accuracy and consistency.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies, tax issues, garnishments, child support orders, and multi-state/local payroll matters, communicating outcomes clearly to employees and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for prevailing wage, Davis-Bacon, and certified payroll requirements across the business.
  • Support payroll tax reconciliation, audit requests, and compliance documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build, improve, and maintain payroll reports, data validations, and recurring analysis to strengthen accuracy, visibility, and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks, streamline workflows, and improve payroll processes using Excel, Alteryx, reporting tools, and other technology.
  • Partner with payroll, accounting, operations, HR, IT, and project teams to test enhancements, solve issues, and improve payroll-related processes.

Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, information systems, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of payroll, accounting, or related experience.
  • 2+ years of direct prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon payroll experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll reporting, and payroll compliance practices.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Strong systems aptitude and comfort learning new tools, platforms, and integrations quickly.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills and a service mindset when supporting employees and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with JD Edwards Oracle EnterpriseOne.
  • Experience with eMars or similar certified payroll reporting platforms.
  • Experience with Alteryx, Power BI, SQL, Tableau, or similar reporting and automation tools.
  • General contracting or heavy civil construction industry payroll experience.
  • Experience supporting payroll system enhancements, testing, implementation, or process improvement initiatives.
