Patient Transporters are primarily responsible for providing non-emergency transport services for patients within a hospital or healthcare facility.

Moving patients to and from different areas of the facility

  • Assisting patients in and out of bed or wheelchairs
  • Assisting patients in and out of cars, taxis, and other vehicles
  • Carefully lifting patients from their beds and placing them into wheelchairs or moveable beds
  • Moving patients to different areas of the hospital, such as operating rooms, treatment areas, and special service departments
  • Driving patients to appropriate destinations to receive medical care
  • Driving safely in accordance with traffic laws and posted speed limits while accounting for weather conditions
  • Traveling by routes specified by patient transportation manager or an approved GPS system
