Familiarity with labeling machines, barcode scanners, and warehouse management systems is typically required. Reliability, time management, and the ability to work efficiently in a team are standout soft skills for this role. Both roles require attention to detail and may share similar certifications, but they differ in daily tasks and work processes.

What are Weekend Packaging Labeling jobs?

Weekend Packaging Labeling jobs involve preparing, labeling, and packaging products during the weekend shifts, often in manufacturing, food production, or warehouse settings. Workers ensure products are correctly labeled according to company and regulatory standards, and that packaging meets quality requirements. These roles may require attention to detail, the ability to stand for long periods, and sometimes basic computer skills for tracking inventory or labeling. Weekend shifts offer flexibility for those seeking part-time or supplemental income, and can be entry-level positions with on-the-job training provided.

What are the typical challenges faced in a Weekend Packaging Labeling position, and how can I prepare for them?

In a Weekend Packaging Labeling role, one of the main challenges is maintaining accuracy and speed during repetitive tasks, especially when working independently or with a small weekend team. The role often requires standing for extended periods and handling multiple labeling assignments while ensuring products meet strict quality standards. To prepare, focus on building your attention to detail, time management, and ability to follow precise instructions. Familiarizing yourself with safety and quality protocols can also help you excel in this environment.

Job description

Title: Materials Specialist
Company: Heven AeroTech
Location: Winchester, Virginia
FLSA: Non-Exempt
At Heven AeroTech, we build more than hydrogen-powered drone systems-we build teams that solve meaningful, real-world problems. Our culture is grounded in trust, accountability, and a shared drive for excellence. We look for people who are hungry, humble, and smart-those who take initiative, continuously improve, collaborate without ego, and apply sound judgment in complex environments. Here, your ideas matter, your voice is heard, and your growth is supported through hands-on experience and close teamwork.

Role Overview

The Materials Specialist is a critical operational role within Heven AeroTech's Logistics Department, responsible for the accurate and timely management of materials, components, and supplies that support production, assembly, and program delivery. Reporting directly to the Director of Logistics, this individual will coordinate the end-to-end materials lifecycle-from procurement support and receiving through inventory control, kitting, and issuance to manufacturing and engineering teams. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who takes ownership of their work (hungry), collaborates effectively across teams (humble), and exercises sound judgment in managing materials in a regulated environment (smart). The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with aerospace or defense supply chains and a strong commitment to maintaining material integrity and traceability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/MRP systems, ensuring real-time visibility of stock levels, locations, and status
  • Conduct cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation activities to ensure data integrity
  • Identify, investigate, and escalate discrepancies, shortages, or excess inventory conditions
  • Manage shelf-life, serialized, and lot-controlled materials in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements
  • Process inbound shipments by verifying quantities, part numbers, and documentation against purchase orders
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance on incoming inspection and properly segregate non-conforming materials
  • Accurately log receiving transactions and maintain associated records (packing lists, certifications, COCs)
  • Pick, kit, and stage materials for production work orders, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Program teams to anticipate and meet material needs
  • Return unused or surplus materials to stock and process system transactions accordingly
  • Prepare outbound shipments, including packaging, labeling, documentation, and carrier coordination
  • Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR export control requirements
  • Maintain accurate shipping records and communicate status updates to stakeholders
  • Support procurement activities by communicating requirements, lead times, and delivery status
  • Assist in resolving supplier issues, discrepancy reports (DRs), and return-to-vendor (RTV) actions
  • Adhere to AS9100, FAA, and internal Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free workspace
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve materials flow, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency

Required Qualifications:

Required

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant materials/logistics experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in materials, warehouse, or supply chain (aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing preferred)
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, IFS) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with serialized and lot-controlled parts and traceability documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and purchase orders
  • Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR export compliance requirements
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
  • Experience supporting AS9100-certified or FAA-regulated environments
  • APICS CPIM or similar certification
  • Familiarity with UAS, propulsion systems, or avionics components
  • Experience with Lean/5S practices

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs unassisted; team-lift for heavier items
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods in a warehouse or production environment
  • Comfortable working in shop floor conditions, including noise, temperature variation, and handling materials with appropriate PPE
  • Ability to maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced, operational setting
  • Occasional overtime, including weekends, may be required to support program milestones

Benefits Overview:
Heven AeroTech offers a competitive benefits package designed to support the health, financial security, and overall well-being of our employees and their families. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement plans, paid time off/sick, and additional protections such as critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident coverage, and short- and long-term disability.
