Job description

The Palletizer Operator operates the console that controls the palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack pallets of finished products.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Understands and complies with position related safety SOP's and work instructions, especially for Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Controls the operation of equipment including turning on and stopping equipment to clear jams and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Verify correct number of layers on each pallet.
  • Observe cans moving along conveyor to idendify misaligned cans and to detect quality defects.
  • Examine, test, and measure cans from assigned equipment for quality specifications using appropriate gauges and instruments to record data.
  • Inform Supervisor of equipment malfunctions and potential quality defects.
  • Maintain supplies and cleanliness of work area.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and inspection of assigned equipment.
  • Maintain forklift certification and provide back-up forklift duties, as required.
  • Communicates with peers to understand issues, changes, and processes.
  • Sorts, re-feeds or depals cans, as required.
  • Includes other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
  • Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Two years experience working in a manufacturing environment; aptitude for, and work experience with troubleshooting, repairing and applying mechanical knowledge to machines/equipment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Key Job Competencies/Physical Demands:
  • Exposure to heat, cold, vibrations, odors/fumes, and loud noises.
  • Ability to work multiple machines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to climb stair frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Able to visually differentiate colors and read fine print.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and night shift.
