Job description

Franklin Brothers Landscaping is a family-owned Indianapolis landscaping company. We started in 2020 and now handle installation, maintenance, and snow & ice management for residential to commercial properties that include Fortune 500 sites and 24/7 distribution and manufacturing facilities.

Our culture is built on developing people, not just filling jobs. We're small enough that everyone here knows each other, and growing fast enough that people who take on more responsibility keep moving up. We run electric equipment on our job sites, make our own liquid brine instead of spreading rock salt, and use AI tools across the office.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Operations Manager to lead our crews across maintenance, installation, and snow & ice. You'll manage the field team members and own dispatch, shop standards, and crew development, with direct access to ownership and the authority to fix what isn't working.

Expect roughly a 75/25 split between jobsites and the office. This is a seat for someone with an ownership mindset, and as the company grows, the role grows with it.

Compensation

  • Base salary of $60,000 – $75,000 depending on experience.
  • Annual performance bonus tied to company gross profit results.

What You'll Do

1. Field Operations

  • Manage crews in the field through leading by example.
  • Maintain quality across jobsites and on client properties for routine maintenance services.
  • Partner with the office to schedule jobs and see them through to completion.
  • Address unsafe practices on the spot and keep safety a daily habit.

2. Project Management

  • Run jobs end to end: planning, materials, staging, crew coordination, completion.
  • Track material usage so job costing stays accurate.
  • Hold crews to schedule and budget.
  • Keep clients informed from first visit through final walkthrough.

3. Snow & Ice Operations

  • Manage snow and ice operations across our commercial contracts.
  • Coordinate brine production and keep materials staged for any event.
  • Manage equipment staging, maintenance, and fueling for full storm response.
  • Know our contract types and manage each to protect service quality and margin.
  • Drive during storms and back up salting runs.

4. Shop, Equipment & Standards

  • Build and maintain a shop system that cuts non-billable hours and extends equipment life.
  • Delegate shop work to keep the space clean, organized, and safe.
  • Run regular drive-alongs to coach crews in the field and reinforce quality.
  • Document field SOPs so every crew works the same way.
  • Find efficiency gaps and work with the office to close them.

What We're Looking For

  • Three or more years leading crews in landscaping, construction, or another field-service industry.
  • Experience running multiple crews and job sites at once.
  • Proficient with heavy equipment operation, truck and trailer driving, and basic equipment repair and troubleshooting.
  • A confident communicator who leads by example with crews, clients, and office staff alike.
  • Able to make sound judgment calls in real time in the field.
  • Comfortable with scheduling and job management software, and willing to use AI tools day to day.
  • Conversational Spanish is a significant plus, though not required.
  • Availability to work snow and ice events, including overnight and weekend callouts.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have, not required: pesticide applicator license, CDL, snow contract management experience, ability to read landscape construction plans.

Compensation

  • Base salary of $60,000 – $75,000 depending on experience.
  • Annual performance bonus tied to company gross profit results.

Benefits

  • 401(k) with company match
  • Competitive paid time off, paid sick time, and paid holidays
  • Consistent, year-round work

Schedule

Regular hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, varying with job requirements, season, and weather. Minimum 40 hours per week, with weekend work as demand requires. Availability by phone after business hours.

**During snow and ice season, availability for call-in 24/7. Callouts range from short salting runs to full storm responses.**

Why Join Franklin Brothers

  • Real authority over how field operations run. You'll have the standing to fix problems, not just report them.
  • A commercial book that already includes Fortune 500 sites and 24/7 facilities.
  • Modern equipment, including an electric fleet and in-house brine production.
  • Fast growth trajectory, with room for your scope to grow as the company does.
  • This is the right seat if you take it personally when a job goes out wrong, and if you understand that snow season means unpredictable hours.

Our Values

These aren't decoration. We hire against them and we manage against them.

Take pride in your work | Be the best part of the client's day | Win together | Show up for yourself so you can show up for the team | Have fun
