Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position in Montgomery, AL, requiring strong robotic surgery experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Job Details
• Work in the OR of a 176-bed acute care hospital in Montgomery, AL,
• Surgical suite includes 6 ORs and 1 Cystoscopy Room, with a maximum of 6 rooms running simultaneously,
• Patient types include General, GYN, Urology, Vascular, Ortho, Podiatry, ENT, Robotics (General, GYN, and Urology), and Pediatric Dental (preferred but not required),
• 1:1 patient ratio,
• EMR: Cerner (experience required),
• Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors,
• 10-hour day shifts with a 6:30 AM start; 40 hours per week,
• Shift options include 5x8 (0630-1500), 4x10 (0630-1700), 4x10 (1100-2130), and 3x12 (0630-1900, Friday-Sunday),
• Block scheduling requests (e.g., every Friday or Monday off) generally cannot be accommodated during the week,
• Floating within the department only (Holding Room),
• Call schedule: one weeknight per week (3:00 PM-6:30 AM) and one weekend day (24 hours) per month,
• Holiday call required if a holiday falls during the contract period, not to exceed once every 26 weeks,
Job Requirements
• Active AL RN license or compact RN license required,
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,
• Minimum 2 years of OR/circulator experience required,
• Strong robotic surgery experience required,
• Core specialty experience in General, GYN, Urology, and Vascular surgery required,
• Proficiency with standard circulator skills required,
• One reference from a charge nurse or above from the past 12 months required for consideration,
• DOB (day and month) required for consideration,
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible,
Additional Information
• Perform circulator duties across a range of surgical specialties including robotic-assisted procedures,
• Unit is supported by 4 Team Leaders, 3 Materials staff, and OR Assistants,
• Orientation is typically 2-3 shifts, with individual evaluation to ensure readiness for call shifts,
• An interview is required prior to any offer being extended,
• Scrubs are provided by the facility,
• Free parking available at the back of the hospital,
• First-time travelers are welcome with at least 2 years of pertinent OR experience, preferably in a non-travel position,
• Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler,
• RTO requests must be approved by the manager,
• Longer weekends may be scheduled periodically to allow travelers to visit home during the contract
