Job description

Focal Point Medical Staffing is seeking compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) or Registered Nurses (RNs) for an exciting contract opportunity with Wilson County Schools. These nurses will be assigned to elementary schools that serve students with special medical needs, ensuring their health and safety throughout the school day. This position requires nurse to ride to and from school with client.

Position: School Nurse (LPN/RN)

Pay Rate: $40 - $50 per hour

Position: Friday's only

Shifts Available: Friday 8:30-2:30pm

Qualifications amp; Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be on time, as tardiness cannot be a factor. These students are on schedules that must be adhered to.
  • Minimum Experience: At least 2 years of nursing experience (LPN or RN).
  • Pediatric Care Experience: Experience in pediatric patient care is REQUIRED.
  • Certifications amp; Credentials:
  • Current and unrestricted LPN or RN license in the state of North Carolina.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
  • TB Test clearance.
  • Hep B Series
  • TDAP
  • Background check and drug screening required per Focal Point’s standard hiring process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • School Day Support: Stay with the assigned student throughout the school day, assisting with daily medical needs.
  • Transportation: Accompany client to and from school via bus
  • Meal Administration: G-Tube Feeding, TPN via central line (Broviac line)
  • General Feeding Assistance: Support students with feeding as needed.

Note: This is considered a high acuity need, and nurses must be fully prepared and comfortable handling this level of care.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow medical protocols.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with school staff.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with students, parents, and faculty.
  • Comfortable working with young children ages 3-15 years old.
