Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides and performs oversight, delegation, and coordination of total nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic care needs of patients. Provides administrative leadership level of nursing services on weekends, holidays and even off-shifts; nights/evenings. Addresses patient care, staffing and any other issues that may arise.

Core Accountabilities
  1. Acts as the Incident Commander during emergency responses (natural disaster, mass causality). Includes developing incident objectives, managing all incident operations, application of resources as well as responsibility for all persons involved.
  2. Acts as the code team leader ensuring priorities of management are carried out effectively and efficiently and coordinate defibrillation, intubation, cannulation and drug administration until the on-call provider arrives.
  3. Responsible for contacting on-call emergency personnel (physician and/or midlevel, lab, radiology, etc.) for coordination of care in the emergency department.
  4. Assists purchasing supervisor by setting PAR levels, tracking outdates, and replacing supplies/equipment as needed for outpatient services.
  5. Assist providers in the care of pregnant women and in the delivery of babies in the emergent condition as required.
  6. Utilizes the nursing process, for the performance of patient care, to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care to achieve prioritized patient outcomes.
  7. Performs accurate documentation and effectively maintains records.
  8. Promotes and ensures patient and staff safety in all aspects of responsibilities.
  9. Participates in orientation of new employees.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Position Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

Experience:

  • Clinical background in nursing practice preferred
  • Previous RN experience preferred

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Nebraska
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required (to be obtained within one year of hire)
  • TNCC required (to be obtained within one year of hire)
  • NRP preferred
  • PALS or ENPC required (to be obtained within one year of hire)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of:
    • General nursing theories and practices
    • Basic aseptic and sterile technique and universal precautions

    • Providing and coordinating patient care
    • Educating patients and the public about various health conditions
