Position Summary
Target Hiring Range: $19.07- $21.19
The purpose of this position is to provide routine administrative, clerical and customer service support to assigned department.
Essential Job Functions
  • Provides quality customer service by greeting internal and external customers, answering phones, responding to inquiries, and providing general information.
  • Directs inquiries and/or complaints to appropriate staff members or supervisors when necessary.
  • Answers questions pertaining to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists with general office and clerical duties such as copying and faxing documents, distributing and sorting mail, typing memos, letters and departmental correspondence, updating logs, data entry, and maintaining digital personnel files and records.
  • Maintain digital personnel files and records, including contact information, shirt size and emergency contacts.
  • Completes work assignments through use of spreadsheets, reports and other forms of information.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned. This may include issuing work orders, scheduling appointments, monitoring office supplies, processing purchase orders, entering payroll, and assisting with travel arrangements.
  • Assists with special departmental events and activities as needed.
  • Coordinate and communicate with event committee members regarding upcoming meetings and events.
  • Send birthday cards to departmental staff.
  • Assist the Recreation Superintendent with additional duties as needed.
  • Assist with book pavilion rentals.
Education and Experience
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
Under and including one year of experience is required.
Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information.
  • This position normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results.
  • There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.
  • Basic work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
  • Intermediate ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Intermediate ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement.
  • Intermediate ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
Licenses and Certificates:
* Valid Driver's License is preferred
* Notary Public Certificate is preferred
Work Environment:
Works primarily in climate controlled office environment. Position requires some lifting. Physical demands are sedentary in nature but include walking, standing, reaching, and bending. Work may cause light fatigue of eyes and fingers because of routine use of motor senses.
