AUSTIN LOCAL Self-Driving Car Operator (No CDL Required)
Location: Austin, TX (Local Applicants Only)
Company: Leading Developer in the Autonomous Vehicle & Delivery Robot Industry
Assignment Length: 12-Month Contract
Schedule & Pay
  • AM Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM | $20 - $25/hour
  • PM Shift: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM | $24 - $28/hour

About the Role
We're hiring Self-Driving Car Operators (Safety Drivers) in Austin, TX to help test and support the operation of autonomous vehicles on public roads. In this role, you'll monitor vehicle systems, ensure safety at all times, and provide valuable feedback to engineering teams working on next-generation mobility technology.
This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge autonomous vehicle and delivery robot technology - no CDL required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate autonomous vehicles while collecting performance and environmental data.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and confirm system readiness before each trip.
  • Monitor vehicle systems in real time and report anomalies or safety events.
  • Collaborate with engineers, operations staff, and test riders professionally.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected situations or road hazards.
  • Maintain constant alertness and follow all safety protocols.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of U.S. driving experience with a valid driver's license.
  • Clean driving record (no DUIs or drug/alcohol offenses in the past 5 years).
  • Proven ability to drive safely in all road and weather conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of Austin-area traffic laws and routes.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism and situational awareness.

Experience in at least one of the following:
  • Autonomous vehicle operation
  • Driving instruction
  • Motorsports (e.g., ATVs, side-by-sides, or dirt bikes)
  • App driving (e.g. Grab, Uber, Lyft)
  • IT/technical troubleshooting experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with vehicle or sensor technology.
  • Certification in safe or defensive driving.
  • Experience with data collection tools or technical reporting.
  • Additional safety or defensive driving training.
