About Us

Nexus Children's Hospital – Dallas is dedicated to bridging medical and behavioral care so that no child falls through the cracks. We specialize in supporting children recovering from complex medical and developmental challenges, including brain injuries, acute illnesses, developmental delays, psychiatric diagnoses, and other life-altering events—all within a nurturing environment.

As a leader in pediatric rehabilitation and behavioral health services, our Dallas campus provides:

  • 60 private patient rooms
  • ICU step-down, neurobehavioral, and rehabilitation units for a seamless continuum of care
  • A state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym and structured therapeutic activity spaces
Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct, high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients with a variety of medical and/or behavioral health conditions. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the RN delivers safe, efficient, and compassionate care in accordance with the Texas Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, and facility policies. This role requires strong clinical judgment, patient advocacy, critical thinking, and the ability to support patients and families in a safe, therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with complex medical and behavioral health needs.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed, following nursing and safety standards.
  • Monitor and assess patient progress, identifying acute changes in condition, chronic exacerbations, or behavioral crises.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on disease management, medications, and coping strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention and use de-escalation techniques in situations involving behavioral health challenges.
  • Communicate clearly with families, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team to support continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with hospital policy and Texas BON guidelines.
  • Follow infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards to ensure high-quality care delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement, annual education, and ongoing competency development.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required within at least 30 days from hire date
  • PALS certification required within at least 30 days from hire date
  • De-escalation training required within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum two years of inpatient hospital or rehab experience preferred.
  • 1–2 years of pediatric nursing experience, preferably in acute care, preferred.
  • Experience with medical and/or behavioral health patient populations strongly preferred.
  • Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills required.
Why Join Nexus – Dallas?
  • Work in a pediatric specialty hospital serving children with both medical and behavioral health needs.
  • Collaborate with an experienced interdisciplinary team across ICU step-down, neurobehavioral, and rehabilitation services.
  • Use your nursing skills in a structured, mission-driven environment focused on safety, compassion, and patient-centered care.
  • Be part of an organization dedicated to mending minds and transforming lives.
