This role oversees hospital operations, coordinates staffing, and serves as the on-site leader for both clinical and administrative decision-making.

The Supervisor supports staff performance, promotes safe and efficient care, and acts as the facility’s key representative during evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Leadership

  • Manage patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and discharges to support efficient throughput.

  • Monitor patient acuity and adjust staffing levels as needed to maintain safe, effective care.

  • Respond promptly to clinical emergencies and coordinate escalation of care when appropriate.

  • Participate in clinical rounds and serve as a resource for evidence-based nursing practice.

Operations & Staffing

  • Coordinate daily hospital operations and interdepartmental communication.

  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage, authorize overtime or agency use as necessary, and promote cost-effective resource utilization.

  • Serve as the administrative representative during off-hours.

  • Support implementation of hospital-wide initiatives and service excellence programs.

Patient Experience & Advocacy

  • Foster a culture of compassion, respect, and empathy in every patient interaction.

  • Address patient and family concerns in real time to support positive experiences and resolution.

  • Advocate for patient needs and ensure timely access to appropriate care and services.

Quality & Compliance

  • Monitor compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and state/federal regulations.

  • Participate in safety rounds, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement through incident review and corrective actions.

Professional Development & Education

  • Mentor and support nursing staff in clinical decision-making and professional growth.

  • Identify training needs and coordinate continuing education opportunities.

  • Maintain personal and staff competency through ongoing professional development and participation in hospital committees.

Financial Stewardship

  • Contribute data and insights for staffing trends and operational planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.

  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association or Red Cross).

  • De-escalation training within 30 days of hire.

  • All certifications must remain current during employment.
