Job description

Location: San Antonio, TX
Job Type: Full-Time
Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI
About the Role
We are seeking a highly specialized Russian Language Analyst & Cultural Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as a fully integrated strategic and operational asset. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex foreign language data and actionable cyberspace operations. Working directly alongside intelligence flights, cyberspace operators, exercise planners, and weapons and tactics personnel, you will translate, analyze, and contextualize Russian-language data, threat actor communications, and public narratives.
Your unique geopolitical and sociological insights will directly support information operations, cyber target characterization, and mission planning in a dynamic, real-world operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • High-Level Translation & Analysis: Translate, transcribe, synthesize, and analyze complex Russian language materials at a native level-including technical cyberspace terminology, colloquialisms, slang, and cultural idioms-transforming raw data into clear, actionable intelligence.
  • Operational Planning & Support: Apply in-depth knowledge of Russian geopolitical, cultural, military, and historical contexts to support target audience analysis, network characterization, and cyberspace operations. Develop methodologies to analyze foreign language data and provide critical input into Combatant Command Operational Plans (OPLANs), CONPLANs, and CONOPs.
  • Targeting & Mission Execution: Employ the PBED (Plan, Brief, Execute, Debrief) methodology to assist operators in target selection, validation, synchronization, and execution of complex cyber missions involving Russian-speaking targets or environments.
  • Operational Framework Refinement: Review and refine Pre-Approved Actions (PAA), Special Instructions (SPINS), and Rules of Engagement (ROE) to ensure absolute cultural accuracy, linguistic appropriateness, and messaging alignment.
  • Intelligence Collaboration: Partner with cyber operators and intelligence analysts to identify and levy collection requirements. Provide the linguistic insight necessary for precise target status assessments and TTP employment.
  • Briefing & Analytical Articulation: Help articulate complex analytical findings regarding the sentiment, intent, calculus, and cultural context of threat actors. Brief results to key stakeholders to maintain situational awareness and support post-mission effectiveness assessments.
  • Continuous Evaluation: Assist in identifying additional linguistic or cultural data points to collect, supporting the continuous evaluation of Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) and Measures of Performance (MOP).
  • Training & Continuity: Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to military, civilian, and contractor personnel regarding Russian cultural nuances, linguistic trends, and adversary TTPs. Maintain continuity folders and working aids to ensure seamless personnel rotations.

Position Requirements & Schedule
  • Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to San Antonio, TX.
  • Travel: Ability to travel as required by mission parameters.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Must be willing to work non-standard shifts (nights, weekends, and holidays) in support of real-world operations and crisis action planning (not to exceed 160 hours per month).

Required:
  • Security Clearance: Must possess an active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • Language Proficiency: Native-level proficiency as evidenced by a DLPT score of 4 and/or an ILR level 5 in the Russian language.
