Job description

Job Description BAE Systems is seeking Radar Electronics Technicians with experience in performing comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance for the Air and Surface Radars found aboard Aircraft Carriers and large deck Amphibious Assault class ships, to be part of our experienced technical team at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops, Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future. The selected candidate will have experience on one or more of the following Radar systems: SPS-48

SPS-67
SPS-73 Provide system/equipment configuration and operational support for air and surface radars in support of Surface Combat System Center's test requirements. Schedule planned maintenance actions utilizing SKED program in accordance with the Navy's Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and also be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program. This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Required Education, Experience, & Skills Typical education and years of experience required: High School/GED and at least 3 years demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance on Air and Surface radars. PQS 301 qualification is required. If selected candidate is not PQS 301 qualified on or before hire date, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within 3 months of employment. The successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40 hour work-week configurations, including:
1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift
2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift
3. Some weekend shifts may be required. **PLEASE NOTE - These work week configurations may be scheduled on a rotational basis Security clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. If selected candidate is not in possession of an active Secret clearance, then he/she will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Highly desired, but not required:
Active Secret security clearance
Experience with Network devices and an understanding of Operating Systems, preferably RedHat or UNIX.

This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
