Job description

Under the direction of the Supervisor Buying, the Retail Merchandise Coordinator supports the Retail Buying team in the daily operational tasks, office duties, and vendor communications for their area of responsibility. Plays a critical role in ensuring merchandise plans are executed efficiently, supporting diverse retail and spa assortments, including sundries, licensees, general and high-end merchandise. Demonstrates a foundational understanding of the buying process and its interdependencies with planning, allocation and supplier relationships. Contributes to a culture of excellence by supporting the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that reflects and upholds the Tribe's vision, mission, and values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Create, enter and audit item data with critical attention to accuracy in descriptions, pricing, categorization and vendor information.
2.Manage the end-to-end procurement process by entering and submitting purchase orders, tracking inbound shipments, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring timely resolution through proactive communication with vendors and internal teams to maintain operational efficiency.
3. Provide timely updates and insight into product data, purchase order status and delivery discrepancies.
4. Partner with supporting departments and retail operations to resolve issues and drive alignment.
5. Generates reports such as receipt logs, sales performance by category, vendors, or other key focus areas based on seasonal or strategic objectives. Provides reports to monitor trends, support decision-making, and ensure team alignment. Supplements the Profit and Loss (P&L) by offering insight into the business, allowing for timely adjustments to merchandise, pricing, or promotional strategies.
6. Provides insight to help inform the overall buying teams decisions by offering input on what's relevant, emerging or essential to the target guest and current season.
7. Stay up to date with fashion trends and engage with the industry to support strategic assortment development, identifying seasonal themes, core products and essentials.
8. Effectively manage long-term strategic projects while addressing short-term priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associate's Degree in business, fashion or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of retail experience required; specialty retail areas preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of data entry/administrative experience required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
  • Previous computer training or experience required
  • Keyboarding skills in accuracy and speed required
  • Must have a sense of urgency, motivation and be a self-starter
  • Excellent communication skills

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver's license or insurance.

  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
