A Step Above Health Management Systems is a rapidly growing medical billing company specializing exclusively in podiatry practices across the United States. We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Account Manager who will take ownership of assigned client accounts and ensure they remain financially healthy while delivering exceptional customer service.
This is an in-office position where you'll become a trusted advisor to our clients while leading the day-to-day revenue cycle operations for your assigned accounts.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall financial health of assigned client accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with physician offices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), accounts receivable, claim trends, and reimbursement performance.
  • Supervise and support Billing Assistants assigned to your accounts.
  • Review reports and identify opportunities to improve collections and workflow.
  • Resolve escalated billing, insurance, and client concerns.
  • Train and mentor team members.
  • Ensure claims move efficiently through the complete Revenue Cycle Management process.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership to improve client outcomes and internal processes.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum of 4 years of full Revenue Cycle Management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the entire medical billing process, including:
     - Claim submission and Payment posting
     - Insurance follow-up
     - Denial management
     - Accounts receivable
     - Patient statements
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Comfortable having professional, difficult conversations when necessary.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred
  • Podiatry billing experience preferred but not necessary. 
  • Experience with practice management systems such as eClinicalWorks, Veracity, ModMed, RXNT, Tebra/Kareo, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using clearinghouses such as Availity, Waystar, Office Ally, TriZetto, or similar systems.
