MECHANIC MASTER

SAFETYSENSITIVE POSITION

Kemp Quarries Inc., a privately owned group of companies, is a leading producer and supplier of construction aggregates-including crushed stone, sand, and gravel-serving NE Oklahoma, SW Missouri, and NW Arkansas. We are currently seeking a Mechanic Master to join our team.


Job Summary

The Mechanic Master is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting our mobile equipment and crushing fleet. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, technical expertise, and the ability to work in demanding environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all MSHA, DOT, and company safety rules and regulations
  • Perform preventative maintenance, preshift inspections, and repairs on mobile equipment
  • Maintain crushing and mobile equipment fleet
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles
  • Perform welding, brazing, and cutting as needed
  • Communicate effectively with the shop regarding repairs and equipment status
  • Complete additional duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
  • Technical school certification preferred
  • Welding certification helpful
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL beneficial
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and travel to various work locations
  • Reliable, hardworking, and safetyfocused
  • Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment
  • May be required to complete DOT physical or MSHA certification
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across:
    • Engines
    • Transmissions
    • Torque converters
    • Differentials and final drives
    • Electrical, hydraulic, fuel, AC, and brake systems
  • Ability to remove and install major components (engines, transmissions, differentials, torque converters)
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions and schematics


Required Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Strong math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure)
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions
  • Ability to use Cat ET program for troubleshooting and calibration
  • Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams
  • Strong followthrough and reliable attendance
  • Commitment to accuracy, quality, and timely completion of work
  • Treats others with respect and professionalism


Education

  • High school diploma or GED; OR
  • One to three years of related experience/training; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience


Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment and/or rock crushing equipment
  • Experience in public works maintenance, crushing, construction, heavy equipment dealerships, or maintenance facilities
  • Knowledge of diesel/gas engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to remove/install parts, disassemble/assemble components, and test/adjust assemblies with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with hand tools, air tools, and precision measuring instruments


Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear
  • Frequently required to climb or balance
  • Occasionally required to sit or smell
  • Must have strong vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment


Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and toxic/caustic chemicals
  • Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, outdoor weather, extreme heat/cold
