Express Employment is partnered with a company based out of Morris, IL and is seeking a skilled Manufacturing & Service Technician to join their team. This is a full-time opportunity for a mechanically inclined professional with experience in assembly, diagnostics, repair, testing, and general warehouse operations.
Position Details
  • Job Title: Manufacturing & Service Technician
  • Classification: Non-Exempt / Hourly
  • Reports To: President
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM
  • Hours: Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week
  • Location: Morris, IL
  • Pay Rate: $22.00+ per hour, based on experience
  • Travel: 0%-5%
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Technical or Trade School training preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant mechanical, service, or manufacturing experience
Job Summary
Responsibilities include assembly, painting, diagnostics, and repair of gearboxes, axles, differentials, and related equipment; operation of a hydraulic drive test bench for final testing and oil filling of heavy equipment axles and gearboxes; data entry; loading and unloading trucks and containers using forklifts and/or overhead cranes; warehouse material handling; and general facility housekeeping duties.
Manufacturing & Service Responsibilities
  • Perform final assembly and painting of axles, including bogie, steering, and rigid axle configurations.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair gearboxes, axles, differentials, and related equipment.
  • Generate inspection and service reports detailing findings and recommendations.
  • Provide on-site customer service and support as needed while maintaining a professional image and high level of customer service.
Warehouse & Facility Responsibilities
  • Load and unload semi-trucks, flatbeds, and shipping containers using forklifts and/or overhead cranes.
  • Assist with picking, packing, shipping, and inventory-related activities.
  • Support general warehouse operations as needed.
  • Perform facility maintenance and housekeeping duties, including:
    • Sweeping and floor scrubbing
    • Emptying trash
    • Lawn mowing and snow removal
    • Maintaining a clean and organized machine shop and warehouse
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in a mechanic, service, maintenance, or manufacturing-related role required.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Experience operating manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate an overhead crane.
  • Blueprint reading skills preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Strong attendance record and reliability required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license required.
