Summary:

A Maintenance Manager I at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Maintenance team supporting efforts to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance within the maintenance department. This position involves monitoring the operations of all machinery and equipment within the facility, including refrigeration operations, boilers, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and is ideal for someone who utilizes strategic thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills. 

Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Team Management: 
  • Plan, schedule, and direct maintenance team.
  • Executes locally the strategic vision of cohesive, proactive, technically skilled maintenance departments across all Processing Operating Group.
  • Participates in all divisional maintenance team collaboration initiatives.  
  • Continuously improve maintenance processes, program, and team to support on-site operations, develop skills, and prevent mechanical failure. 
  • Foster and lead a working environment that includes open and productive communication with machine operators, department supervisors, and managers. 
  • Manages and implements CMMS system for preventative maintenance, work orders, and equipment tracking.
2. Safety and Compliance Administration: 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Administer Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) principles and requirements to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Model and administer maintenance department safety plans and procedures.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, as necessary. 
3. Operation and Project Oversight: 
  • Formulate and implement preventative maintenance schedule for facility machinery and equipment that are consistent with regulatory, manufacturer, and industry standards.
  • Oversee all on-site maintenance functions including refrigeration, electrical, hydraulics, welding, processing equipment, employee housing, etc.
  • Coordinate and inspect work performed by third-party refrigeration contractors.
  • Develop and maintain the maintenance department budget, tracking expenses and driving down costs, where feasible.
  • Manage alternating schedules for weekend or after-hours emergency response.
  • Oversee new installation projects and strategic initiatives. 
  • Willing to travel to other processing plants for support and training, as needed. 
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.

What you bring to Pacific Seafood
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Understanding and ability to troubleshoot basic electrical systems.
  • 3+ years experience managing and directing a team of technicians in preventative maintenance, repair, operations, and safety. 
  • Ability to manage and execute minor engineering projects and installations such as refrigeration systems, pumps, conveyor systems, boilers, etc.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance in manufacturing, food processing or seafood processing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work within time constraints. 
  • Proficiency in basic math and ability to read and write clear correspondence.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally.
Preferred:
  • Five years’ experience operating and maintaining industrial refrigeration systems utilizing ammonia and freon refrigerants, boilers, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and facility electrical systems.
  • Experience using common welding processes and fabrication with an emphasis in stainless and aluminum.
  • EPA Universal Certification, EPA 608 or 609 certification.
  • CIRO certification.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • PSM/RMP experience. 
  • Experience in mechanical engineering, construction, or the food industry.
  • HACCP and HAZWOPER certification

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
