Job Description
Peterson Cat has the immediate need for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Person at our Eugene, OR location.
The Facilities Maintenance Person performs maintenance and repairs to fixed facility equipment at assigned Peterson locations and assists other Facilities Maintenance department employees with project work as directed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign the functions to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Job functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance to building and fixed facility equipment, including but not limited to:
    • Removing and replacing broken equipment.
    • Plumbing and repairs and maintenance.
    • Electrical repairs and maintenance.
    • Replacing ballasts, light fixtures, and bulbs.
    • Painting facilities.
  • Keep inventory of maintenance supplies and materials required for facilities maintenance.
  • Purchase repair parts and process related paperwork, as needed, to ensure proper inventory levels of parts are maintained and repairs can be made in a timely manner.
  • Work overtime, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed due to project assignments.
  • Attend scheduled training and departmental meetings.
  • Travel away from base location up to 50% of the time to perform maintenance, repairs, and other essential functions at assigned Peterson facilities.
  • Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in preparing for city, state, and federal inspections.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Display excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers/ coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Respectfully take direction from supervisor/manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must display thorough understanding of and ability to perform facilities maintenance tasks.
  • Must display working knowledge of most kinds of shop tooling, plant equipment, and building systems.
  • Must display knowledge of various facilities repair options and time requirements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience in facilities maintenance and/or operations, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENCENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) highly preferred
  • Welding certification preferred
