What is a weekend maintenance?

A Weekend Maintenance job involves performing routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance on equipment or facilities during weekends. Responsibilities may include troubleshooting mechanical or electrical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring systems operate efficiently. These roles are common in manufacturing plants, hotels, hospitals, or other facilities that require continuous operation. Weekend Maintenance workers help prevent breakdowns, minimize downtime, and keep operations running smoothly outside regular weekday shifts.

What are the responsibilities of a weekend maintenance?

During a typical weekend shift, you can expect to handle a variety of tasks including performing routine inspections, addressing urgent repair requests, and conducting preventative maintenance on essential systems. You may also be responsible for ensuring that public or high-traffic areas remain clean and well-functioning, promptly responding to any facility emergencies, and documenting completed work. Weekend maintenance often involves more independent work due to reduced onsite staff, but you’ll still collaborate with supervisors and occasionally coordinate with other departments as needed. This role is ideal for those who are self-motivated and enjoy keeping operations running smoothly outside of standard business hours.

What skills and qualifications are needed for weekend maintenance?

To thrive as a Weekend Maintenance professional, you need strong troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance skills, often supported by experience with plumbing, electrical, or HVAC systems. Familiarity with tools such as power drills, wrenches, and diagnostic equipment, as well as relevant certifications like OSHA or EPA, is often preferred. Reliability, time management, and clear communication are standout soft skills in this position. These abilities ensure all facilities or machinery remain safe and operational during weekend hours, minimizing downtime and disruptions.

  • Partner with production teams to diagnose issues and maintain product flow
  • Operate machinery including format and size changes in assigned areas
  • Assist with vendor and contractor coordination for maintenance work
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure plant reliability and uptime
  • Adjust and document metal detector settings as required
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate with maintenance and production teams

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (mechanical and electrical) preferred
  • Experience with PLCs and VFDs strongly preferred
  • Ability to work as a true “jack of all trades” across mechanical, electrical, and utilities systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Trade school certificate or Associate degree preferred but not required
  • Must be able to pass mechanical and electrical aptitude testing

Schedule & Compensation
  • Night shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
  • 2-2-3 rotating schedule (work only half the days each month)
  • Every other weekend required
  • $35.96/hour including shift differential
  • Test scores may qualify candidates for higher pay
  • Direct-hire role with long-term growth potential
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Annual bonus program
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Tuition reimbursement and paid training
  • Wellness subsidy
  • Disability insurance
  • Adoption assistance

Additional Details
  • Apprenticeship program in place (2-year program)
  • Green candidates considered, but experienced maintenance technicians strongly preferred
  • Night shift is the most critical and hardest to fill role
  • Manufacturing facility with modern production equipment

If you enjoy solving complex equipment issues, working hands-on in a fast-paced production environment, and building a long-term career with a company that invests in its maintenance team, this role offers excellent compensation, stability, and growth.

Our partner is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace.
