Description
Brad Foote Gearing has an opening for an experienced Machine Shop Production Supervisor for our Cicero, IL plant. This is a first shift position and will primarily supervise our Milling and Turning teams. The Supervisor will develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, and machine capabilities. This position is responsible of coordinating production times and staffing requirements to ensure on-time delivery for our gearing machine shop operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maximize production operations through continuous improvement activity
  • Improve tooling, machining, and operator efficiencies
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing concepts to improve productivity
  • Plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in each area of responsibility
  • Track and evaluate individual as well as overall unit productivity
  • Lead team to focus on quality at the source with a focus on defect reduction.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to resolve and address operator grievances
  • Analyze and schedule the work force, workflow, and layout of equipment for maximum efficiency
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure workflow is maintained
  • Properly train and continually improve workforce productivity in their respective job functions
  • Ensure customer requirements are being adhered to and provide quality product
  • Assure the quality standards set by the ISO 9001 guidelines.
  • Provide a safe working environment through enforcing appropriate housekeeping and PPE compliance
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience in manufacturing
  • Previous work experience in a machine shop (milling, turning, grinding, cutting)
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies including six sigma is preferred
  • Gearing experience highly desired

Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability
  • Read and understand blueprints and manufacturing processes
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Competent in the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Problem solving and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of precision measurement tools
  • Union shop experience is a plus
  • Bilingual Polish and/or Spanish is a plus
